Man in the desert wearing a paisley-embroidered Kashmiri pashmina gutra

Kashmir · Arabia

The gutra,
rewoven in pashmina.

Pashmine Q studio brings the handloomed cashmere of the Kashmir valley to the headdress of the Gulf — one cloth, two heritages.

The Loom

Woven in the Kashmir valley

Each cloth begins with Changthangi cashmere combed at altitude and spun by hand. Our weavers work the same wooden handlooms their families have used for generations — a single gutra takes weeks on the frame.

The Drape

Cut for the Gulf

Sized and finished to the proportions of the traditional gutra, so it folds, sits and falls exactly as it should beneath the igal. Pashmina holds its shape without weight — cool through the afternoon, warm after maghrib.

The Motif

Paisley meets the desert

Borders are embroidered elegantly: the Kashmiri buta softened into geometry that echoes Arabian ornament. Two visual languages, one quiet cloth — never louder than the person wearing it.

Each gutra is finished to the proportions of its tradition: the Qatari drape at 50 × 50 inches (127 × 127 cm), the Emirati, Saudi, Bahraini and Omani fold at 55 × 55 inches (140 × 140 cm), and the Kuwaiti sweep at 60 × 60 inches (152 × 152 cm). Every cloth is shaped to fall, sit and fold precisely beneath the igal.

Share your wish — a motif, a palette, a family pattern — and our atelier will shape it into a gutra that carries the refined elegance of Gulf tradition. From private commissions to house patterns, we make it happen.
